Erwin Brecher PhD    

Erwin Brecher was born in Budapest, Hungary in 1914 and educated in Vienna, Czechoslovakia and London. He studied physics, economics and engineering to become AMIMechE and AMIProdE. He majored in psychology for his PhD.

He joined the Czech army in 1937, and at the outbreak of war, escaped to London via Switzerland. He worked for De Havilland on aircraft design, and in 1946 formed a group of companies active in international trade and finance. In 1963 his companies were acquired by a listed investment trust. He was appointed to the main board and to the board of its banking subsidiary.

In 1972 Erwin Brecher became CEO of an international financial group with offices in New York, Rio de Janeiro, Switzerland, Athens and Istanbul, in connection with which he travelled extensively.

In 1974 he became a name at Lloyds of London. In 1978 he acquired control of a quoted investment trust and served as its chairman until his retirement in 1984. Erwin Brecher is a shareholder and on the board of MBA International, a specialist recruitment company. He is also CEO of a company of financial consultants (established in 1947). In addition he continues to act as adviser to private and listed companies.

He is the author of twenty-five books on non-fiction subjects, published in six languages, by US and European companies including Pan/Macmillan and Random House. In September 1995 he was awarded the Order of Merit in Gold by the city of Vienna in recognition of his literary achievements.

In 2001 Erwin Brecher formed Panacea Press Limited, publishers, to market his own books and those of other authors of non-fiction subjects.
