Danny Roth was
born in London in 1946, and educated at Northwick School, Latymer Upper
School and Reading University, where he was awarded an honours degree in
applied physical sciences.
From 1967 to
1986 he worked for Prudential Assurance and qualified as an Associate of the
Institute of Actuaries.
He is a prolific
author on a range of subjects. In addition to the eighteen books on bridge
that he has published to date, he has also written a book about diet,
nutrition and obesity. He regularly writes magazine articles about bridge
and also on financial matters such as mortgages and pensions. He is a
compiler of crossword puzzles and devises chess puzzles and mathematical
brain-teasers which regularly appear in the Sunday Times magazine. He has
written a historical play which is a Shakespearean pastiche of the 1936
abdication crisis.
Danny Roth is a
professional bridge coach and gives private tuition in GCSE mathematics,
English and other subjects.
He lives with
his wife Amanda and their two children in Essex.
